Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By creating an account or using OffTilt, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

2. What OffTilt is

OffTilt is a personal finance tracking tool. It helps you organize and visualize your financial data. It is not:

• A bank or financial institution
• A licensed financial advisor or planner
• An investment platform
• A tax filing service
• A credit reporting agency

Nothing in OffTilt constitutes financial advice. Any calculations, projections, or suggestions are informational only. Always consult a qualified professional before making significant financial decisions.

3. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. Use a strong, unique password. Do not share your credentials with anyone.

You must be at least 18 years old to use OffTilt. By creating an account you confirm you meet this requirement.

4. Your data

You own your financial data. We store it on your behalf to provide the service. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle it.

You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter. OffTilt displays what you put in — garbage in, garbage out.

5. Bank connections

If you connect a bank account via Plaid, you are also subject to Plaid's Terms of Service. Bank sync is optional — you can use OffTilt fully without connecting a bank.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise tamper with the application
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to overwhelm or disrupt the service
• Create accounts on behalf of others without their consent

7. Data accuracy disclaimer

OffTilt performs calculations based on data you provide and, if connected, data retrieved from Plaid. We make reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy but we make no warranty that:

• Bank-synced transaction data is complete or error-free
• Budget calculations, net worth figures, or mortgage projections are accurate for your specific situation
• The service will be available without interruption

Always verify important financial figures independently before acting on them.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Northern Dread Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of OffTilt, including but not limited to financial losses resulting from reliance on information displayed in the app.

Our total liability for any claim arising from use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, engage in abusive behaviour, or if we determine continued access poses a risk to other users or the service.

You may delete your account at any time via Settings. Upon termination, your data will be handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered users by email before material changes take effect. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada, and applicable federal Canadian law. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of British Columbia.

12. Subscriptions and billing

OffTilt offers paid subscriptions for bank sync via Plaid. All other features are free. The following terms apply:

• Pricing: Subscriptions are available monthly or annually. Current pricing is listed on our pricing page.
• Billing: Subscriptions are billed in advance. Annual subscribers are billed once per year.
• Cancellation: You may cancel at any time. Access continues until the end of your current billing period. No partial refunds are issued for unused time.
• Lapsed subscriptions: If your subscription lapses, your data is retained for 90 days. You may resubscribe within that window to regain full access. After 90 days, your account and data may be permanently deleted.
• Refunds: We do not offer refunds except where required by applicable law.
• Price changes: We will notify subscribers by email at least 30 days before any price increase takes effect.
